In the mid 1970s, a chemical company in Washington was in the process of designing a wastewater treatment plant. The process would require about 15-40 tons/month of lime and a bulk dry hydrate system was being considered at a cost of over $100,000. Gilmour & Company contacted the design team shortly before the system construction went out to bid and recommended a simple by-product lime slurry system be used instead.

This option saved the plant thousands of dollars in equipment costs. In addition, hundreds of thousands of dollars were saved over the last 30 years from the use of the less expensive by-product lime slurry.
