COMPANY BACKGROUNDGilmour & Company's headquarters are located in Salt Lake City, Utah with operations in California, Washington, Oregon and the Rocky Mountain region.The company was founded by CM (Matt) Gilmour in 1969. Gilmour, an attorney working in the mining industry, realized the potential for using by-product lime slurry as a low-cost replacement for commercial lime. Gilmour retired from the law busines a few years after founding Gilmour & Company to pursue the business full-time. In the mid 1980s, his son Ridgely, who began working for the company while still in high school, took over the management and ownership of the Gilmour & Company. In 1992, another son, Mark Gilmour, joined Gilmour & Company full-time as manager for the Tacoma area operations. Over the years, the company has expanded its focus into handling other lime products and providing services related to the lime industry. |
